BMJ HR are seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead the end-to-end recruitment and employee experience process for all roles in a consultative & collaborative manner across BMJ (UK & Internationally), whilst making a positive contribution and impact to onboarding and off-boarding processes to support diversity and inclusion. The role reports to the EDI Manager and sits within an HR team of 10.

 

You will work with line managers to understand their recruitment needs and build campaigns for commercial roles across the business. It is essential to deliver on a variety of recruitment strategies in an agile method across departments within BMJ. As the sole recruiter, you will need to be comfortable dealing with roles at all levels, throughout a number of varying disciplines.

 

While the focus area will be on direct recruitment and EDI you will also support the Head of T&D with talent management initiatives. Additionally, you will support ad-hoc Talent/HR projects, contributing to BMJ being a great place to be, including our People Engagement agenda from the start of an employee's BMJ career and throughout, and act as the Product manager for our BMJ applicant tracking system.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining excellence in our recruitment practices and creating a competitive edge in attracting talent through impactful careers page profiles and strong brand and reputation management.
  • Structure and manage BMJ recruitment processes and policies so as to include best equality practices and promote diversity.
  • Facilitate fair recruitment and diversity in the hiring process, through crafting job descriptions and selection strategies.
  • Assist BMJ People managers and the Reward Manager with the job evaluation process with regards to role profiling, ensuring consistency, alignment, and standardisation of competencies as relevant to grade, job scope and purpose.
  • Coordinate talent acquisition authorisations aligned to BMJ internal governance procedures on new heads and replacement heads. 
  • Managing the onboarding process and manager recruitment training. 
  • Championing best practice and EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) agenda through relevant training. 
  • Managing 3rd party relationships such as Glassdoor, iCIMS, LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Provide recruitment stats and data for relevant dashboard people analytics.
  • Collaborate with HR Managers on diversity and inclusion activities from talent acquisition, people manager training and best practice audits.
  • Lead on monitoring recruitment market trends, recommending and implementing changes to ensure strength in our Employee Value Proposition.
  • Undertake activities, both external (i.e. careers fairs) and internal (ie. Talent Bank) to promote BMJ as an employer of choice.  
  • Placement of advertising for new roles and finding appropriate advertising solutions, writing and overseeing job adverts to ensure compliance with legal frameworks, including equality and diversity.
  • Arrange interview schedules and panels and attend as an interviewing panel member where needed.
  • Manage the offer, negotiation, closing process.
  • Providing feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
  • Keep abreast of employment law and best practice recruitment solutions, including company and competitor knowledge.
  • Proactively headhunt active/passive talent, using strategic cold/warm communications.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven expert knowledge of talent acquisition strategies
  • Ability to lead on/support the creation of job profiles that map our EDI principles and “narrate” a true definition and purpose of the role to attract a wide pool of talent
  • Experience in headhunting or working with exec recruitment partners for roles that are senior or niche within the market.  
  • Advanced level of experience in using social media to attract talent and build talent pools 
  • Experience in managing an Applicant Tracking System i.e. iCIMS/Tribepad
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of applying employment legislation to recruitment advertising, policy & practices
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to influence and drive BMJ’ s recruitment strategy at all levels of the business.
  • Effective negotiation skills to ensure maximum value versus budget spend
  • Expert knowledge in the use and management of job board portals and using LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Experience in recruiting international talent, where different employment legislation is applicable. 
  • Experience of being a brand ambassador at external events i.e university fairs.

 

DESIRABLE

  • Part or fully CIPD qualified or equivalent Human Resources Management qualification
  • British Psychological Society - Level A/1 
  • Exposure to the use of equivalent occupational/aptitude testing
  • Experience of job evaluation practices / methodology
  • Experience incorporating EDI strategies into recruitment campaigns
