    The role:


    The BMJ Events team run over 15 international and national events a year. These include large-scale international conferences, awards evenings, national events and webinars. We are looking for an enthusiastic junior conference producer help develop new events and ensure our current programmes match the needs of the audiences.


    The role will include conducting research through phone and face to face interviews with the target market to understand their needs, making recommendations for new events and audiences to Conference Producer, inviting relevant speakers and ensuring content is pitched correctly at the target audience. The role holder will also be responsible for delivering and administrating programmes on a mixture of established and new events.



    • Audience research: Sourcing and conducting research interviews with key audiences to understand their needs
    • Content development: Making recommendations to conference producer on direction for conference programmes, and topics for new events
    • Speaker acquisition: Inviting relevant speakers, giving advice on shaping presentation content, presentation style and delivery.  Maintaining positive relationships with speakers to build a strong portfolio of contacts.
    • Speaker logistics: Providing speakers with logistical information about their presentation, updating websites and course materials with speaker details, processing payments and expenses claims.
    • Interaction with marketing and sales:  Working closely with the marketing team to provide copy for email campaigns and proofreading course brochures /event guides for print. Working with the commercial sales team to advise on sponsored content
    • Live Event management: managing speakers and AV, which involves troubleshooting in case of unforeseen events (speakers not arriving on time, AV malfunction etc) Also responsible for remotely producing webinars.



    • Experience of conference production or market research in commercial setting
    • Excellent organisational skills – ability to plan ahead and juggle multiple deadlines
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills – able to quickly gain credibility with users and collaborate with them on programme content
    • Good decision-making skills – to sensibly guide content generation and respond to unforeseen circumstances that might arise at events on the day
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills – vital to maintain productive working relationships with internal teams, suppliers and speakers
