  • Overview

    BMJ are seeking a Clinical Outreach and Engagement Manager, who will be part of the BMJ Global Health/Global Health Security team, which manages the implementation and sustainability of a high profile, high priority healthcare training and decision support programme spanning multiple countries.

    Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities:

     

    • To support engagement efforts and influence key decision makers and healthcare leaders across a range of low and middle income countries
    • To support the Regional Development Managers,  implementation Leads and business  teams in their interactions with clinicians, partners and funders  
    • To support training of healthcare professionals in clinical decision support and medical education, including developing training and presentations materials, and case scenarios
    • To review and interpret usage and impact data and contribute to funder / customer reports and other contractual requirements for the programme, alongside other team members
    • To support impact evaluation activities, including the development of case studies and quality improvement projects, including presenting results and outcomes at international conferences and events
    • Monitor and advise internal teams on the challenges faced by health systems and funders. Listen to the needs expressed by the market and ensure that BMJ continues to meet those needs
    • Build  relationships with key regional and international organisations to raise awareness of the BMJ brand and our capability to deliver global health programmes in low and middle income countries

     

    Additional responsibilities:  

     

    • Raise the profile of the BMJ and its products through public speaking and effective networking
    • Contribute to the achievement of accreditation for the purposes of continuing medical education and professional development in target countries
    • Deliver training workshops on BMJ products, clinical decision support, medical education, quality improvement, and impact in a compelling and persuasive manner
    • Deliver presentations at conferences and events
    • Input  public health / infectious diseases domain knowledge and experience into both strategic and tactical marketing plans, to help position products, drive usage and engagement and inform   product and programme strategies to align to the needs of users
    • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the key benefits and differentiators of BMJ products
    • Maintain knowledge on the state of the healthcare market in relevant low and middle income countries, their needs and likely challenges
    • Be involved in the scoping and development of new products and international / global health programmes; contribute customer and market insights to product development processes
    • Build strong consultative relationships with target audiences, including at Ministerial levels
    • Map BMJ resources to relevant medical curricula
    • Help to ensure the long term sustainability of our global health strategy  
    • Deputise when needed on behalf of the BMJ Clinical Director  

    Qualifications

    • Masters degree in a relevant subject (e.g. public health / infectious diseases / epidemiology / global health)


    EXPERIENCE:

    Essential:

    • At least 3 years practical experience in public health / infectious disease /epidemiology / international health
    • Engagement and influencing with senior decision makers at governmental levels
    • Excellent working knowledge of international healthcare markets
    • Working in a commercial and/or NGO environment  
    • Experience within and understanding of the global health environment
    • Experience of working with global health funders


    Desirable:

    • Use of technology in the healthcare workflow and knowledge based tools in practice

    • Knowledge of evidence based medicine, medical education and quality improvement  
    • Strong organisational skills - ability to plan, organise and prioritise a busy workload

    This is a London based role in BMA House, but you will required to do a considerable amount of international travel. The position is a fixed term contract until June 2023 with the possibility of being extended further.
